Definition

Win/draw/loss (1X2)

The three possible outcomes of a football match, each with a probability that sums to 100% with the other two.

What the numbers mean

1 is the home win, X the draw, 2 the away win. A reading like 55% / 25% / 20% is the model's complete view of the match: the favourite wins about eleven of twenty replays — and drops nine.

Where ours come from

Footalytics sums a Dixon-Coles adjusted Poisson scoreline distribution into 1X2 — so the three numbers are always consistent with the match's over/under, BTTS and correct-score figures.

FAQ

Is 1X2 the same as the match result?

1X2 names the three outcomes; the prediction is a probability for each, not a single guaranteed pick.

Why do the three probabilities always sum to 100%?

Exactly one outcome happens, so the full distribution must cover all of it.
